There's a massive problem looming around the corner for “green” disposal. For example solar panels were supposed to last 20 or 25 years.  But failures in 15 yrs are occurring.   The aluminum frames are easiest to detach & recycle.  But their sandwich of glass, silicone, silver, lead & tin poses big problems.   There's been no cost effective way to extract the potentially useful silver, and the lead can poison land fills.  When you look at the vast volumes of panels to produce significant levels of energy, the problems of disposal are ballooning quite large.
