Check out the hybrids. I drove a Honda Accord Hybrid (not a small car anymore) back from the Western shore. Averaged 45+ mpg. And, in stop-and-go traffic on the bridge, it got 51 mpg! It gets better mileage in city traffic than it does on the highway.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yea check out the “green” production of electric car batteries and “green” disposal. All greenie BS. Feel good crap Outrageous costs.
