Section 5: States Subject: Blue states plan anti-Trump fights Msg# 1215048

I actually wonder if the populations of some of these blue states are going to put up with the nonsense being perpetuated by their current governors? For example, Governor Gavin in California is clearly setting himself up for what he expects to be his 2028 run for president. But I suspect he doesn't realize that he is losing popularity in his home state even as he is making the national run--which he's been doing for at least a year (as he ignored his own constituents). Recall the debate on Fox with Ron DeSantis? His many many many jaunts across the country on speaking tours having nothing to do with governing California? But in fact, Californians are starting to become disgusted with many of the things happening there--crime is probably number one, followed closely by rampant state spending on ridiculous items.
If Newsome loses support in CA--most especially if the state tries to impeach him for a second time--it is not going to sit well with the national Democrat party when they go looking for a presidential candidate in four years. But I really and truly do *not* think Newsome is smart enough to realize that. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Now with Trump laying plans to forge ahead, several blue states are making anti-trump plans. Among these are California's governor Newsome as well as New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, etc. New York is an interesting example, with mayor Adams of NY City taking steps like big cuts in the bucks $$$ being paid to immigrants, and also discontinuing their free housing in hotels. Such steps may produce some self-deportations. In effect, Adams is supporting Trump's deportation ideas, while many blue state governors would be fighting the Trump deportation policy. And deportation is just one of Trump's policies that blue states are planning to increase their funding of legal costs as a large part of their anti-Trump efforts. Progress was seen in the current election when California voters passed Prop 36 and ousted two soft on crime District Attorneys. Thus showing there's openings for changes. But of course Trump seems always ready to fight for his policies. And can win his share of decisions Correcting the immigration crisis may be the most popular of issues to be fought. Stay tuned. Gonna be interesting now & into the next 4 years. Wondering, what are some favorite issues of folks reading this forum -- Blue vs Trump administration?? |
