Section 6: International Subject: Cheap EVs Msg# 1210977

Folks need to begin to realize that there's no carbon savings until the EV is driven about 60,000 miles, because of the heavy carbon to build those EVs and their batteries. Also the heavy loads on bridges and parking garages can be very destructive.
Add these to the video's list of EV concerns. And the history of China-built products reliability doesn't impress me. Yet S Korea & Japan have gained respect |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: In about the middle of that video I noticed a statement saying that things like Biden's 100% tariff on Chinese electric cars is also affecting their sales. While that goes a long way toward protecting American manufacturers it means no cheap Chinese electric cars for Americans. It doesn't matter what they sell for in other countries. Don't get me wrong, I think protecting our manufacturers by hitting foreign countries with the same kind of tariffs they hit us with is both an act of common sense survival and exactly the right thing to do. I think reciprocal tariffs should be required by law. I don't have a horse in this race as I don't see an all-electric car suiting my needs for the foreseeable future. |
