Section 6: International Subject: Cheap EVs Msg# 1210973

Do you realize the U.S does not sell cars in Germany due to tariffs. Big thing with EVs being that it takes what seven years to break even with its carbon tracking. How in the world does that make sense to anyone. And if you own the car that long you will probably be in for expensive battery replacement. To each his own,I prefer gas engines myself and I can do some work on them myself. Time will tell what happens in the car manufacturing future. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: In about the middle of that video I noticed a statement saying that things like Biden's 100% tariff on Chinese electric cars is also affecting their sales. While that goes a long way toward protecting American manufacturers it means no cheap Chinese electric cars for Americans. It doesn't matter what they sell for in other countries. Don't get me wrong, I think protecting our manufacturers by hitting foreign countries with the same kind of tariffs they hit us with is both an act of common sense survival and exactly the right thing to do. I think reciprocal tariffs should be required by law. I don't have a horse in this race as I don't see an all-electric car suiting my needs for the foreseeable future. |
