I think our goal should, however, be trying to find the least biased sources, and to not push the obviously biased sources as if they were completely unbiased.
The problem is people tend to support and push the sources that support their own biases and never question those sources while ALWAYS questioning sources from the other side. That can be seen here constantly and on most sites. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Actually, all kidding aside, it is very difficult to find published sources these days that don't lean one way or the other politically, that are not at least somewhat biased. "News" sources especially, but even sources that in decades past were essentially unassailable--scientific research, for example, now more often than not have a political bent. This makes it difficult for an individual to be sure of THE FACTS in any situation. Thus we have opinions, and argue opinions. We wish it weren't the case, and we continue to seek out actual facts, but there will almost always be some bias in the sources we use. I think our goal should, however, be trying to find the least biased sources, and to not push the obviously biased sources as if they were completely unbiased. |
