I’ve driven six or more trips in the last five weeks of each one 1000 miles. Saw only one or two charging stations snd they were all on the major highway only. EV better for short city trips. Not for me. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Those numbers are for home charging. The 64 hour charge is using 120 volt trickle charge. (There are a couple of other Teslas in the list that take 71 hours.) The 240 volt home charge would be 11.5 - 13 hours for those long range models, easily charged overnight. A super charger station would do it much faster. If you take long-distance vacations, then an EV is probably not for you, although at least one manfacturer will include a certain amount of free loner time of a gas vehicle for long-distance travel. EVs are not for everyone, but there are hybrid SUVs that will get you a 50% or so improvement in gas mileage. |
