I find the VIP section useful for the occasional private conversation with a member*, and sometimes two members want to chat about something personal and I'll move their conversation into VIP, so I want to keep it, but it isn't the heart of the forum for me. Who is the owner of Crafts, that is hospitalized? * private conversations are a pain in the tush because once you've read them the threads are very hard to find again--essentially impossible without manually doing a "read every message to me" thing--no way for someone who gets dozens of messages a day. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: We sure do. Back in the day, we sometimes needed a "behind the curtain" spot to blow off steam (usually about someone who was in the public chat section). I wouldn't say that all the chat is in VIP at all. Since I'm not the forum owner (she remains hospitalized) I can't really speak to whether we really need a VIP section at all any more. But it had its uses at one time. Tina |
