In the case of Nantucket, shards as well as chunks of those fiberglass blades were scattered along the beaches. The beaches were closed for the initial clean ups, but that junk was there for weeks.
Also, when chunks are in the ocean there's hazard to navigation. The turbine construction project was shut for a while, but has resumed. You can imagine how outraged the tourist industry became. Yet that are is still at risk as the wind farm project is still being expanded there. Atrocious. And to make matters worse, the Ocean City turbines will be 10 miles offshore, while the Nantucket project is 15 miles off their coast. And the Virginia Beach project is 26 miles offshore. Another huge concern, and disadvantage for Marylanders. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Holy Excrement......that's a LOT of blades! I'm guessing if they fail in an ocean location they sink? |
