Seemed so unnecessary, when the purpose of Zelenskyy's trip here was for signing an agreement, the first step, the minerals agreement. 

About 2:30 PM, Zelenskyy issued a statement, trying to show his appreciation for the US actions in supporting Ukraine and striving for peace.   He was thanking POTUS, congress and the American people for their support --changing his tune from earlier arguments with Trump.  Its totally anyone's guess whether that signing step can now occur --with deep emotions on both sides.

Trump said: “You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people. You’re gambling with World War Three, and what you’re doing is very disrespectful to this country...“Offer some words of appreciation for the United States of America and the president who’s trying to save your country,"  

The French Pres and the UK minister who earlier visited the US and supported Trump's peace efforts were very displeased by the Zelenskyy fiasco.  And senator Lindsey Graham was very distressed at the Ukraine Prez actions today.  A Newsmax commentator criticized Zelenskyy as being petulant and entitled.
