At the Federal level, there is no proposed ban on gasoline or diesel vehicles. The current EPA rules call for reducing emissions by about 50% between 2026 and 2032.
Various other sources indicated those restrictions of 50% on tail pipe emissions are so strict they're having the same effects as mandates or bans on the kinds & sizes of vehicles that people prefer to drive. Report EPA Proposal a De Facto Ban on Gasoline Powered Cars and Trucks Click Here Two More: Click Here Click Here. Sorry Jim, this blows a big hole in the govt claiming it has not imposed bans or mandates. Exposes how that claim is fictional. Its a coverup of the bottom line effects This likely will result in many folks continuing to drive their older, more polluting vehicles. Yet that choice will help prevent power shortages by lowering electrical demands for recharging. But fossil power plants could linger on if power needs are increased by EVs But yet its helping folks budgets by not buying extravagantly priced EVs. Also there's no gain in emissions saved until EVs travel 60,000 miles, because the pollution in building those huge batteries needs to be offset Hmm sounds like so many chaotic cross currents of factors that Biden is pushing onto the nation. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yet Biden may be getting close to a constitutional violation of freedom to buy vehicles of your choice. At the Federal level, there is no proposed ban on gasoline or diesel vehicles. The current EPA rules call for reducing emissions by about 50% between 2026 and 2032. This is at the manufacturer level, not the consumer. So for the foreseeable future, you can buy any vehicle you want to. No Federal mandates to buy EVs. At the state level, California wants to phase out new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 and some other states are following a similar timeline. Those phase-outs have nothing to do with Biden; He has not mandated vehicle choice nationwide. |
