Another court action today, which was praised by the White House, was when a U.S. appeals court ruled on Tuesday that Biden's student debt forgiveness plan should be halted.
Recall that the Supreme Court originally had halted Biden's student debt relief program. Yet that was after $1.2 billion already went out the door to student borrowers under the program, which started in February 2024. In a 25-page opinion the court ruled that Biden’s underlying program regulation be blocked in its entirety. Estimated costs would have hit taxpayers by $475 billion over the next decade.
