Liberals including you do NOT offer alternative opinions for discussion here. You simply post a bunch of links to sources most of us consider a waste of our time to read. Posting links back and forth is not offering alternative opinions. Surely you see the difference?
Offering alternative opinions for discussion might be something like why you favor electric vehicles, why they are important to you for the future, why you want to see the end of gas-powered vehicles, etc. Your president has mandated that we go to these very soon, and we here have been educating each other as to why EVs are a bad idea--bad for the economy, bad for national security, bad for safety. I have never heard anyone on the left counter these ideas by saying no, EVs will not put us at the mercy of China, no, EVs will not hurt the national economy OR individual (family) wealth, or that no, EVs are perfectly safe. I have not heard those on the left counter the idea that no, we won't soon have landfills full of used batteries from EVs, either. I would suggest that EVs are not a responsible green alternative any more than solar or wind power are a responsible green energy alternative, but liberals will not counter that with rational discussion, because it is not about what will work, it seems to be simply about getting rid of carbon-powered anything. I'm sorry, liberals, but this does not come across as rational, and I never hear anything different. Just how evil coal, gas, and nuclear power are. Of course much of this is tied to the misconception that these power sources are "killing the planet," which is not a given, either, and if one is religiously attached to the "climate change crisis," odds are we can't agree. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: TO MARK AND ALL: There is no civil discourse on this so called forum across political lines. There is a very lopsided right majority here and any alternate opinions offered are immediately rejected with no discussion. The poster is immediately "piled on" by the majority. When the poster offers further discussion / esplanation / rationale, that is followed with more piling on. When the poster finally gives up, the majority spends the next few days / week patting each other on the back and continue bashing the poster. For the most part, the majority here is unwilling / unable to discuss an alternative positions in a civilized manner. The most expediate solution is to attack the poster and continue joyously slapping each other on the back. This is why I am mostly absent from here. My opinions are obviously not wanted here. There are many more productive and enjoyable things that I can do with my time. |
