There are multiple books on that topic published as a result of scientific studies, but the hoplophobes (those who irrationally fear guns) refuse to look at or consider those studies, as they show that guns are used FAR more often to protect life than to take life.  But that messes with their message, and a cooperative media fuels the flames of hoplophobia--and never considers the truth.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Well put Mark, too bad we don't see more stories about legal gun owners who, because they are armed, stop violent acts by criminals with guns.
