Section 6: Message Board Subject: non-expandable pop-ups? Msg# 821400

If you use the popup you will note that the URL shows, but it cannot be changed. Regardless of what is shown at the top of the popp, a user can follow any links appearing with the page, regardless of where they go -- and the user will always be in the popup, with the forum browser instance always there in background as well. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: When I compose messages the text in the editor is always smaller than the text in the messages when I read them. Doesn't matter what size text is set on my browser, although it is normally medium or large, and it doesn't matter what browser I use. It also doesn't matter if my screen magnification is set at 100% or some other factor. I usually keep the forum test size set to "2." As to leaving the address bar off the pop-up, I had the impression that if the pop-up was a complete and intact window, the user could just expand it as just another window and go off on his merry way, and not be "rooted," if you will, to our forums in any way. I know it doesn't take a savvy user any effort to leave the forum because finding the URL of any site is simple, and even moving around in a po-up window isn't too hard without the address bar, but for many casual users, without the address bar they are more likely to just close the pop-up when finished and come back to the starting point, our forums. I thought that was the intent, but I may be missing something. |
