Section 6: Message Board Subject: non-expandable pop-ups? Msg# 821024

I've updated the code. No horizontal scroll bars. Small windows can be expanded or go full screen. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It seems you changed the way pop-ups work in the forums. In the past they would open to full screen if you clicked on the restore up button. Since they didn't contain an address bar this wasn't an issue. I am thinking you changed it so they will not restore upnow because you added an address bar to pop-ups? (And no, I can't drag borders either.) If I'm thinking clearly--always in doubt , here's my take on that... I understand the address bar being available makes it easier for someone to copy the URL to use it in a link or to save it as a favorite, but they could always have done that by right clicking. I think being able to expand the pop-up window to full screen was far more useful. On my monitor with 1680x1050 resolution, the pop-ups already appear with horizontal scroll bars and I hate that. More and more people have wide flat screen monitors, and all laptops have them. If we are still catering to the lowest common denominator computers out there I think we should stop. What do I use pop-ups for? Right now I'm looking at a FF message from yesterday that I gave short shrift and writing a reply--and trying to do it in a small pop-up that I can't expand. I'm not going to get lost and think the pop-up is my main screen for the forum. I'd rather go back to full-screen eligible pop-ups without address bars--which no one needs. Am I seeing things correctly, and have I got the motivation for change even close? If so, is there a chance of reversion? (If not, make me a special restore up button? ) |
