Entirely new code is now in place for all users for tracking messages read. Tracking is only done when reading new messages - All New, Section New, or Thread New.

You can actually just read a single section on each logon and the read messages in that section will be tracked.

If there are 100 unread messages and you read any of the new ones, then go to Home page, only the ones you read will be marked as read and you won't lose any messages, or if you have 100 waiting and read 50 and have to stop it is no longer a problem. Stop reading new messages at any point and you won't miss messages. This is the biggest advantage of the new code. The only way to miss  any messages as new is to be away from the forum long enough for over 500 new messages to be posted. The system only tracks 500.

Note that in the even you are away and more than 500 new messages are posted then you can use the Read-By-Day to read messages posted in the prior 1 to 30 days.
