Spinning and Weaving
Description: This is a photo of completely unrelated items.
The two shuttles are silk shuttles from Laos. The double shuttle is lightweight and very finely made; the single shuttle is made from a heavy wood and in the hand, it just begs to be used!
Underneath the shuttles is a treasure: a Peruvian shawl, dyed with natural dyes, handspun, and handwoven by a woman named Lidia in the village of Chinchero, near Cusco. It's difficult to see in the photo, but the yarns are very tightly spun and plied.
