Examples of abuse:  

•  Pepper-spraying in the face has been documented on video. 
• A letter from an inmate describes the beatings, starvation & poor hygiene. 
• A report from a prisoner now out of jail recounts that weekdays he was confined to the cell 23 Hrs per day, and on weekends remained in there for 72 hrs. straight. No exercise breaks.
• His court-appointed lawyer, Peter Cooper, didn’t answer the phone once out of at least 40+ phone calls from jail and only visited him twice in over 13 months. 
• A fiance reveals her partner being stabbed in the face, inedible bug-infested food, withholding his mail for weeks on end, and unjustified delay in his medical needs…
• Quote: "It’s now 8 months later and after many medical requests the doctor at FCI Miami saw him and gave him the results of the bloodwork from back in January and the results are terrifying! Barry’s thyroid is not functioning properly, his cholesterol is high, uric acid levels are high and he is at a high risk of heart complications."  

Such serving of about four years under abusive conditions, means that even those granted pardons by Trump have served time.  And this likely approximates the jail times served by thousands of other convicts who have served time.  Those years are gone from their lives.  Yet I'd suggest that there's likely to be a much lower rate of recidivism from the J6 people.
