The reports that excerpt were take from are aimed at describing how energy demands are skyrocketing, and thus are the big concerns.   

Title of the Washington Examiner report is:  Soaring electricity demand will prolong use of fossil fuels, IEA predicts    Click Here   

And its forerunner, the IEA report is titled:  World Energy Outlook 2024 shows critical choices facing governments and consumers as period of more ample supplies nears and surging electricity demand reshapes energy security   Click Here   

There's no recognition in those reports that the biggest drawback of solar power is zero production during night time or on rainy and cloudy daytime hours.   When solar achieves 30% to 40% of its rated max power operators consider that to be good performance.

Thus the comparison to the total US power demand is a fallacy, because it ignores the "off-line" limitations, ignores intermittency of solar.   

The IEA appears mostly a political group pushing the green agenda.  Yet the utility and grid industry groups have also been warning about potential power shortages. Load growth has been very strong. Thus there's some agreement.   

There's been plenty of earlier threads here describing power shortages, for example already occurring in California with rolling blackouts, brownouts  and warnings to NOT charge their EVs.
