One company that owns more than 100 wind farms in the U.S. and Canada has been fined big bucks-- $8 million.

The Next Era Energy company acknowledged the deaths of golden and bald eagles at 50 wind farms in eight states: Wyoming, California, New Mexico, North Dakota, Colorado, Michigan, Arizona and Illinois. The energy company pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay over $8 million in fines and restitution after at least 150 eagles were killed at its wind farms.

One politician who has spoken out against wind turbines is former Prez Trump.

Predicting short offshore turbine life of nine years, Trump said: “Especially in the ocean, the saltwater absolutely eats through the steel like it’s nothing.”

Trump also said: “If you shoot a bald eagle or an eagle of any kind, they’ll put you in jail for two years.  Go under a windmill see how many eagles there are and nobody goes to jail."

Perhaps Trump will also become aware of the threats to the endangered North American Right Whales, as well as the objections raised by local officials. He perhaps could make a difference.
