Thanks for the invite, although I do try to stay out of the People's Republics... No, I'm in Ohio, and we do have concealed carry. Actually Maryland has concealed carry too, just not the good kind, known as "shall issue," which means that unless a cirtizen is legally prohibited, the state must issue him or her a license to carry upon him meeting any training, residence, etc., requirements.
But in a "may issue" state like Maryland (and New York, California, and several others), the state has the option but no obligation to issue you a license. In effect these states have chosen not to issue licenses to carry except to those with juice--judges, political big wigs, the rich, the connected. This is the sort of thing many pro-gun organizations are fighting to change, and will be the next big political battlegrounds, especially now that we are down to only one state in the union that does not have some form of concealed carry law (Illinois). |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Mark, thanks for the reply. I knew about the password crossing forums and I did try several times to simply enter using it, but to no avail. I'll try again later. Yup, I'm really excited about the FN, though definately guilty about such an extravagant knee jerk purchase. I saw it for $1500 brand new, new it was way out of my budget, and bought it anyway! Now I'm trying to figure out how to take it apart and put it together. That taxes my non mechanical brain! Thanks for the tip on the G 19, I'll try that. I sure am tired of the second shot hitting the top of a tree! I assume re your comment about carrying, that you're not in MD. If you ever are, the weathers decent and the range is open be glad to let you go bang bang with the FN. |
