Let me put the issue another way. If you had 10,000 news items from your people and 10,000 news items from other sources you might be considering separation.
However, if you have 100 of each or 50 or each then it is more convenient for users to look in one location rather than two. Also, note that the items you add are lists with the most recent showing first. Thus if you put up a new local item it will be at the top of the list until you add another new item. Also consider that you can highlight recent news items by placing them on the home page. You should also not leave the same items on the home page for long periods of time. When things don't change, users just start ignoring what is on the page after a period of time. Back to PDFs -- this is an easy trap to fall into. Try not to. PDF functionality is best when desiring to display something like the OPA Quarterly newsletter, a complex layout. If the most important item you wish to display is some text, use text. |
