Description: Here's the quilt I recently made (with Jennie's help) for my niece who is expecting her first child in April. I made the mistake of trying to match her nursery theme (do a google search on Zanzibar Nursery) while using my own stash of fabrics. While I'm ok with the end result (it could even grow on me), I found the whole process to be an exercise in picking the ugliest batiks, finding them totally unsuitable for a baby quilt, and finally finding that "the perfect" border wanted to be the backing fabric instead. I'm happy with the results, the suitability of the quilt for the nephew-to-be works well, and I'm now happily working on a quilt that appeals to me and was inspired by my discard pile of batiks.
