Description: This photo, taken in 1940 (sorry, I don't know by whom), shows Mahatma Gandhi spinning on a device called the "dhanush takli". It seems to be a driven spindle: the bow in his right hand would rotate the spindle while he drafts out the yarn with his left hand.
