Description: This painting by Nicolaes Maes (1634-1693) shows a spinner looking for the lost end of her yarn in a bobbin full of linen. The wheel portrayed in the painting is fascinating: it has a bobbin and flyer, but no treadle. The original painting hangs in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
