Description: This shows how far apart the hands need to be when drafting long wool fibers. This wool is Wensleydale, which has a 14-inch staple length. In drafting, the hands need to separated by a space greater than the length of the fiber (otherwise you'd be pulling on both ends of the fibers!); so in drafting this wool using a "worsted" technique, my hands were from 15 to 24 inches apart. I thought that was pretty amazing! Uploaded: 10/19/2004 by RuthMacGregor
